It is designed for traffic distribution in Ethernet networks, for example, within IP video surveillance systems, IP telephony, etc. ST-NS224MB-GD is equipped with 24 10/100 Mbps ports with PoE injectors for power supply to connected IP devices and two gigabit Uplink ports, and its throughput is 16 Gbps. This unmanaged switch provides automatic detection of the type of the connected device, the PoE standard it supports, the data transfer rate, the cable type (MDI/MDIX), and, in addition, can operate in VLAN and EXTEND modes.
In total, the unmanaged ST-NS224MB-GD switch is equipped with 26 ports, 24 of which are PoE ports for connecting peripheral IP devices, supporting data transfer rates of 10 or 100 Mbit/s, and another 2 are Uplink ports designed for gigabit connections (1000 Mbit/s). At the same time, direct power supply to the end equipment is implemented in the ST-NS224MB-GD across all 24 PoE ports in accordance with IEEE 802.3 af/at standards, and the presence of a built-in 260 W power supply provides sufficient power to power the switch itself and allocate up to 30 W for each connected IP device.
Additionally, the ST-NS224MB-GD switch supports VLAN and EXTEND modes. Thus, to increase the security of data transfer, this unmanaged switch can operate in VLAN port isolation mode, when the devices connected to it are divided into subnets and can "communicate" with each other only within them. The EXTEND mode is used to increase the maximum possible distance between the switch and the IP device connected to it up to 250 meters (with a standard 100 meters for Ethernet networks) without using PoE repeaters. At the same time, data transfer up to 10 Mbit/s and PoE power supply of devices are preserved.
The design features of the ST-NS224MB-GD model allow this switch to be used as a desktop switch or placed in a standard 19” hardware rack. It is designed for operation in a temperature range from -10 to +55 °C at a relative humidity of up to 90%, and also has protection against lightning overvoltage up to 6 kV and electrostatic discharge up to 4 kV. In addition, the unmanaged switch is equipped with LED indicators that “inform” about port activity, operating mode and power status of the device.
