UHF RFID Reader for Parking Lots and More with Wiegand Output and RS-232 Port

expo electronica

ARMO-Systems presented a new UHF reader ST-LR310E from Smartec, equipped with a high-performance radio chip and an antenna with circular polarization.

ARMO-Systems presented the ST-LR310E UHF reader by Smartec for solving various long-range identification tasks, including effective control of vehicle passage, thanks to a long reading distance of up to 9 meters. The ST-LR310E is equipped with a high-performance radio chip and a circularly polarized antenna, ensuring stable code reading when working with passive RFID identifiers of the ISO-18000-6C and ISO-18000-6B standards. This UHF RFID reader has a relay output for connecting external actuators, a Wiegand 26/34 interface for working in ACS of various manufacturers, as well as RS-232 for integration into applications.

The ST-LR310E can be integrated into various access control systems using the Wiegand 26 or 34 interface (customer's choice). In the ACS, the UHF RFID reader is usually used to control the passage of vehicles into the protected area, since it operates in the 867.1 MHz range and has a reading distance of up to 9 m. Within the UHF access control system based on the ST-LR310E, drivers can identify themselves without leaving the car or even lowering the window: the UHF reader allows the car to move at a moderate speed when entering and leaving the parking lot, which increases the throughput of the access point.

Along with the ACS, the UHF reader can be used in third-party applications due to the RS-232 interface. For example, the ST-LR310E is applicable in logistics to control the movement of goods and inventory control in warehouses, in agriculture - to track the movement of animals, in business - to record equipment, tools and other valuable assets of the company, in production - to track parts and materials in the production chain, etc. Through RS-232, this UHF RFID reader also allows you to configure the identification distance using a special utility program.

Due to the use of a high-performance radio chip in the ST-LR310E design - an analogue of M100, the UHF reader has a guaranteed high sensitivity, noise immunity and provides reliable recognition of UHF identifiers. At the same time, the UHF RFID reader supports the mode of checking the match of the identifier and reader passwords, which allows you to exclude false alarms of the device from third-party RFID cards or tags and, thereby, increase the security of identification.

Outdoor design with dust/moisture resistance class IP65 and operating temperature range from -35 to +60 °C ensure reliable operation of the UHF reader in open areas without additional protection. At the same time, the UHF RFID reader can be mounted on a pole using the included bracket, which allows you to adjust its tilt to optimize the area of action. Separately, we note the presence of a relay output in the ST-LR310E, to which you can connect external actuators and control them using user software or by a signal from identifiers with a specific code.
