Smartec's STDM-102A Microwave Detector for People/Objects, Designed for Use in a Video Complex with PTZ Cameras, Is Now Presented

expo electronica

The Smartec Video line has a new product – the STDM-102A microwave detector.

It is designed to operate in combination with one or more high-speed PTZ video surveillance cameras and specialized software. In such a system, the microwave detector is responsible for detecting people/vehicles at long distances in any weather conditions and at any time of day, and transmitting data on the location, speed and direction of movement of one or more recorded targets. Since STDM-102A operates in an open frequency range (24 GHz), it does not require licensing or obtaining special permits for use.

The maximum detection range of a person and a car using the STDM-102A is 150 and 180 meters, respectively. At the same time, the detector is capable of determining the speed of target movement in the range of 0.5-30 m/s with an accuracy of 0.03 m/s, and the error in measuring the angle does not exceed ±1°. This microwave detector complies with the dust/moisture protection class IP66 and has an operating temperature range from -40 to +75 °C. The new product can be used as part of video security systems for industrial, mining and processing enterprises, logistics centers, land, water and air transport hubs, etc. Along with the STDM-102A, the Smartec line includes the long-range STDM-103A detector (450/600 m) with the ability to detect up to 32 objects simultaneously.

The main option for using a microwave detector is with a high-speed PTZ camera and an integrated software control platform, which allows you to qualitatively expand the range of visibility and detection of potential threats by means of a video surveillance system. Each Smartec microwave detector supports joint operation with PTZ cameras with a resolution of up to 4K (8 MP), and is optimally compatible, in particular, with the 4 MP high-speed PTZ video camera STC-IPM4960A with 37x optical zoom and IR illumination at 400 m. You can additionally increase the efficiency of monitoring critical areas by including a rotating bispectral thermal imaging camera, for example, STX-IPPT5958AL, in a complex with the STDM-102A microwave detector. It will expand the detection range also towards the thermal imaging range, which will generally allow monitoring in three spectra: microwave, visible and thermal.

The software platform, which is an integral part of the integrated solution, can be used to control equipment, view real-time video, process signals, configure alarm responses, interaction between the STDM-102A detector and the PTZ camera, etc. Moreover, it is possible to combine microwave detectors into a cluster and thus form a protective "barrier" at the protected facility. In the software interface, the space in the detector's "field of view" can be divided into several sectors: early warning zones (targets are detected and tracked by video from cameras), masking zones (targets are not tracked), and alarm zones/lines (signal communication, video recording/playback, etc. are activated). In addition to the desktop version of the software, a functional mobile application is available.
