This is an unmanaged 16-channel PoE switch that, along with data transmission, allows power supply to connected IP devices via PoE technology, and also supports VLAN and EXTEND operating modes. Due to automatic detection of the type of connected device and the PoE standard it supports, as well as the data transfer rate and cable type (MDI/MDIX), the ST-NS216MB-GD switch eliminates the difficulties of network configuration.
The ST-NS216MB-GD can serve up to 16 PoE-compatible IP devices, supporting data transfer rates of 10 or 100 Mbps. For communication with higher-level network equipment (switch or router), this PoE switch is equipped with two gigabit Uplink ports. The versatility of the ST-NS216MB-GD for various security systems is ensured by the device's sufficient power budget - 175 W, while the switch can allocate up to 30 W for each PoE port.
Automatic configuration of the ST-NS216MB-GD, like other unmanaged switches, simplifies its commissioning as much as possible. For example, the implementation of the automatic cable type detection function allows using both a straight (MDI) twisted pair and a crossed (MDIX) one with a network device. In addition, the 16-port PoE switch provides automatic detection of the connected device and the PoE standard it supports, as well as automatic detection of the data transfer rate.
The VLAN and EXTEND modes implemented in the ST-NS216MB-GD allow increasing security and extending the data transmission range. Thus, in the port isolation mode (VLAN), devices controlled by the PoE switch (up to 16) can be logically divided into subnets, limiting access to them from the outside. In the EXTEND mode, the ST-NS216MB-GD provides data transmission via PoE technology at a distance of more than 100 m, without using PoE repeaters. The combination of these two modes provides for an increase in the communication range to 250 m with a speed limit of 10 Mbit/s, and isolation of PoE ports from each other and their connection only with Uplink ports.
The standard ST-NS216MB-GD case allows you to use this switch as a desktop or place it in a 19” hardware rack. Thanks to a wide range of operating temperatures, from -10 to +55 °C, the 16-port PoE switch will work stably in both heated and unheated rooms, and protection against lightning surges up to 6 kV and electrostatic discharge up to 4 kV provide this model with additional operational advantages. At the same time, specialized LED indicators allow promptly informing personnel about port activity, operating mode and power status of the device.
