New From System Electric: Passive Duct Temperature Sensor SDTN200 For Ventilation Systems

expo electronica

The new duct temperature sensor is designed to measure the air temperature inside the ventilation system ducts in residential, commercial and industrial areas. The basic element of the passive SDTN200 model is the NTC10K thermistor, with which the sensor ensures temperature control within the range from -40 to +80 °C. The service life of the device is 10 years.

The SDTN200 passive duct sensor measures temperature in the range from -40 to +80 °C and with an accuracy of ±0.3 °C using a temperature-sensitive element (thermistor) NTC10K with a negative temperature coefficient NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient). The sensor's operating principle is based on measuring the thermostat resistance, which decreases with an increase in the ambient air temperature and increases with a decrease, and the control resistance value is 10 kOhm at +25 °C. For stable and reliable operation inside the air duct, the duct temperature sensor is supplied in a housing protected to class IP53.

The presence of a mounting flange and cable entry in the kit, as well as the ability to adjust the immersion depth from 40 to 265 mm, allows you to install the SDTN200 temperature sensor on air ducts of various depths. In this case, to connect the output signal of the temperature sensor to the input of the automation system controller (analog or universal), you must use a shielded cable. For correct operation throughout the entire service life, the duct temperature sensor requires annual maintenance, which includes a visual inspection, cleaning the case from dust, dirt and foreign objects, and checking the quality of the connections.

Along with the SDTN200 model, the SystemeBMSSens series includes another passive duct temperature sensor – SDTP200. The sensors differ in the type of thermal element: the first is equipped with an NTC10K thermistor with a negative temperature coefficient, the second – with a PT1000 resistor with a positive coefficient (resistance increases with increasing temperature). At the same time, both sensors have a similar appearance and functionality.
