Changes in the Security Sphere: Prospects for Cooperation Between Russia and China

expo electronica

In 2023, the volume of trade between Russia and China reached $240 billion, which is 26.3% more than the previous year.

Exports of goods from China to Russia increased by 47% , amounting to 111 billion dollars. At the same time, imports of goods to China from Russia increased by almost 13% , reaching 129 billion dollars. The trade balance surplus between the two countries remained in Russia's favor, but its surplus decreased almost 2-fold, falling to 18.17 billion dollars.

In the first 7 months of 2024, the volume of trade between Russia and China reached $136.7 billion , which is 1.6% more than the volume for the same period last year, when it was $134.5 billion. This data was provided in the report of China's customs statistics. The increase in the volume of foreign economic activity between the states contributes to the strengthening of relations between different structures, and also includes public organizations in this process.

In the period from 2024 to 2025, interest in technical protection tools in Russia is expected to increase. This will be caused by the growth in the number of threats and problems that various structures have to face.

Main directions for development

It is important to emphasize that over a long period of time, strong corporate relations have been established in the international arena between leading Russian and Chinese companies operating in the security sector.

In each country, similar global trends are taking place related to the development of neural networks and their impact on various aspects of human activity both in the production sphere and in everyday life. There is an increase in production capabilities, an increase in the efficiency of technological equipment and an expansion of the functionality of software solutions.

Smart Safe Cities projects are supported in funding and implementation. In a number of countries, the launched electronic services are demonstrating impressive success, allowing users to remotely receive the necessary data or documents and make payments from their bank accounts without leaving their homes. Today's advances in software make it possible to effectively analyze extensive event data and promptly provide the operator with appropriate recommendations.

The methods of interaction between commercial partners have become faster and more diverse. Recently, telephone conversations, the use of e-mail and face-to-face meetings have become less relevant. Instead, various messengers, video conferencing platforms and social networks are increasingly being introduced into everyday activities.

Interaction models

When discussing the emergence of promising areas of cooperation between Russian and Chinese enterprises in the field of technological security devices for 2024–2025, it is worth highlighting first of all:

// Cooperation in the field of technology and knowledge sharing. Russian and Chinese enterprises actively share advanced developments and professional experience, especially in the segment of technical security. Thanks to such cooperation, enterprises are able to improve their level of activity, which makes them stronger competitors in the global arena.

// Joint production. Domestic and Chinese firms can jointly explore options for manufacturing security products. This will make it possible to reduce production costs, increase the volume of goods produced, and better understand the needs of both private and public customers.

// Developing innovative products. Collaborating on new developments in the field of security tools can lead to the emergence of innovative products on the market, the demand for which will be high.

// Market penetration of new products. Joint activities between Russian and Chinese companies open doors for market entry and expansion of the customer base, which contributes to profit growth and strengthening of market positions locally and internationally.

// Educational exchange and interaction of personnel. Russian and Chinese enterprises can organize specialized training programs and exchange of experience among employees, which will increase their professional competencies and strengthen corporate ties within the companies.

Russia & China: What's Next?

It is important to note international bank transfers between Russia and China. Financial institutions of the Celestial Empire participate in global economic processes, subject to established norms and restrictions, which currently slows down trade relations between our countries.

However, recently many companies have started to switch to using Chinese yuan when concluding international contracts. This has changed the process, speeding it up and allowing for more accurate forecasting of the cost of goods at the time of their arrival at the buyer's warehouse in the Russian Federation.

In other words, despite the global processes that are beyond control, market participants are obliged to adapt and find new ways to develop. Thus, some experienced investors from China have decided to extend the credit period for their Russian colleagues, while others are considering the possibility of joint participation in promotions with Russian partners. Still others are planning to open their branches in Russia, providing a full range of services: from delivery to payment for goods. Also, many have preferred to wait and see how events will develop, and have transferred their operations to the CIS countries.

All these actions will allow small and medium-sized entrepreneurs from the Russian Federation and China not only to expand their activities, but will also provide the opportunity to invest in other potentially interesting markets.
